A cover letter from your resume — nothing made up

Paste your resume and the job description. The letter picks the two or three things you’ve done that fit this job best, and leaves out what you haven’t.

Why it won’t paper over the gaps

Most generators fill every requirement in the posting with confident sentences, whether or not your resume backs them up. Then the interview asks about them. This one only writes what your resume shows, and tells you which requirement it couldn’t match — often the thing worth addressing yourself, honestly, in a sentence.

The letter goes with a resume. Refacet builds that resume for the same job from your real experience — see how tailoring a resume to a job description works.

Questions

Will it claim skills I don’t have?
No. It writes only from your resume. When the job asks for something your resume doesn’t show, the letter leaves it out and tells you which requirement that was — so you can decide what to say about it.
How long should a cover letter be?
Short: three paragraphs, under about 280 words. Which of your experience fits this job, and why — then stop.
Should I edit the letter?
Yes. Read it as the hiring manager would, change anything that doesn’t sound like you, and add why you want this job in particular — the one thing only you can say.
Is it free?
Yes, a couple of letters a day without an account. Nothing you paste is stored.
